Recommended skills
The Pageship skills set a document’s structure. Two third-party skills can set its look: Anthropic’s frontend-design and design-taste-frontend from the Taste Skill stack. Pageship recommends both. It doesn’t ship or update them, and you don’t need them to publish.
What they are for
Section titled “What they are for”frontend-design, by Anthropic, grounds the look in the subject and avoids the clichés of generated designs. The authoring skills prefer it.design-taste-frontend, by Leonxlnx, reads the brief before it picks a design direction. The authoring skills use it whenfrontend-designis not installed. It comes second because the Taste Skill stack is written for landing pages.
Either one chooses the type, the colour values and the character of the page.
Where the look comes from
Section titled “Where the look comes from”For each document, the agent takes the look from the first of these that has one:
- Your own visual instructions.
- Your project’s design system: its tokens, stylesheets or brand guide.
- An installed design skill:
frontend-design, thendesign-taste-frontend. It counts only when it is in the agent’s list of available skills, not when it is a file somewhere on disk. - The plain default, below.
Whatever sets the look, the Pageship skills keep control of structure, density, reading width, print and the file rules. A document always has two accent colours, four series colours for charts and diagrams, and three status colours, whatever a design skill says about accents. The agent also leaves out the landing-page parts a design skill may suggest, such as hero banners, decorative sections, marketing copy and entrance animations on text and sections; charts, graphics and sequence diagrams play once as they scroll into view, as the motion pattern says.
The plain default
Section titled “The plain default”Without a design skill or a design system, the agent copies the plain default stylesheet that ships with pageship-docs:
- serif body text with sans-serif headings, labels and figure text, all in system fonts;
- a plum title band and plum section headings, with steel-blue links;
- framed figures with a caption strip, and tinted callouts;
- light and dark colours that follow your system setting, and a print stylesheet.
Installing them
Section titled “Installing them”The CLI never installs these skills. pageship status and pageship skills install report them as missing when the CLI can’t find them in ~/.agents/skills, ~/.claude/skills or a Claude Code plugin. A missing skill never changes the status or exit code.
The setup guide offers them as optional and installs them only if you agree. To install them yourself, run:
npx skills add anthropics/skills --skill frontend-design -g -y
npx skills add Leonxlnx/taste-skill --skill design-taste-frontend -g -y
The second command installs only design-taste-frontend, not the whole Taste repository. Start a new agent session afterwards so your agent loads them.
